Fooled By Randomness
You’d be surprised to know that on average, the analyst has no better shot at predicting what would happen in the stock market more than you by flipping a coin. This is not something that happened only this year. It happened in the past and would probably continue to happen as people still struggle to be fooled by prophecy.

Just Stupid, Not Neglectful
After all, animals engage in that sort of activity in front of their young without apparent harm. And what about very primitive human societies without doors that can be locked? Do those children, or animals, that see those sort of activities suffer some sort of harm? I think we can safely predict the results of those studies before someone spends X million dollars of government grant money on the topic.

Savings Bonds
While digging around in some of my old files this afternoon, I found two $25 savings bonds that were issued to me when I was a baby. They’re from January 1974 and November 1975, so they’ve both reached their 30-year maturity.

Great Party For A Good Cause
We are actively pursuing purchase of the vacant Fairfield Library for our permanent headquarters and the site of our Grover Cleveland Presidential Library. We had a small fundraiser in Niagara County the other night at the home of one of our supporters. We raised $220. Our Treasurer Paulette Peterson, has deposited those funds into a special account at Citizens Bank towards the purchase of that fine building.

About Me
Here’s a quick rundown of my personal finances. I have a WaMu checking account (which is slowly being phased out), an ING Savings account, and the incredible ING Electric Orange Checking account. In a nutshell, paychecks are deposited to the ING Checking, bills are paid, and whatever is left (hopefully) goes into the ING Savings.

That Comfy Cozy Nanny State
We've seen exactly this happen in the US during the S&L scandal of the late 80's. The sister body to the FDIC, the FSLIC (which covered S&L's specifically) went insolvent and the entire debacle is said to have cost the American taxpayer $150 billion.

Wrapped In Plastic
I opened a checking account at our local credit union last week. (BofA outsources their tech support and charges a $6 monthly maintenance fee, so I’m dumping them.) My box of checks arrived yesterday, wrapped in plastic. Recyclable #2 plastic.

The Traitorous Times
The program is limited, government officials say, to tracing transactions of people suspected of having ties to Al Qaeda by reviewing records from the nerve center of the global banking industry, a Belgian cooperative that routes about $6 trillion daily between banks, brokerages, stock exchanges and other institutions. The records mostly involve wire transfers and other methods of moving money overseas and into and out of the United States. Most routine financial transactions confined to this country are not in the database.

It's A Wonderful Movie
To play the unassuming savings and loan clerk, Capra wanted Jimmy Stewart who he had previously worked with in You Can’t Take It With You (1938) and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939). But coming back from World War II, the thirty-seven year old Stewart was no longer the easy going man about town he had been in the thirties. The former Academy Award winner for The Philadelphia Story (1940) had led a thousand men in bombing missions in the European theater in hard to maneuver B-24s.

Perspective
Cause i know how much they wanted this child and all the trouble they went through to even get it and it put everything in perspective that no matter how bad a day im having or how much the scale says it cant really top that and that the stuff i worry about is minor to say the least. And that i should be happy my problems are so minor. The worst part is that they are a couple that i look up i mean they have a solid marriage(not going to say perfect cause nuttin is perfect), money in the bank, good jobs, everything that i wanna have by the age they are at. And it seems like my mom was right that u cant have everything cause the only thing they were missing and wanted was a child.
